Hello,Since the lastest windows 10 update my synaptic touchpad driver is consistently turning on and off. If i open up control panel and go to mouse and then the touchpad driver section it switches between enabled and disabled and if i am quick enough i can hitthe settings button when it enables but the window closes as it gets disabled again. I can permanently disable it using the function key but then i cannot move the mouse. The touchpad works fine at the windows log in screen and only disables once in desktop.An external mouse works fine. I have tried uninstalling the driver and letting windows install a new driver for it, but same issue is present. Any ideas?Thanks.

Hello HP community,Today I upgraded my HP Pavilion DV7t-3000 to Windows 10 Pro x64 with a clean install. I first tried the Synaptics driver from HP's driver page, but the scrolling only works on 'classic' applications, like control panel, or windows explorer. In 'modern' applications like start menu, settings, and such it does not scroll despite showing the scrolling mouse cursor.

Windows update automatically updated the touchpad driver, but now the scrolling doesn't work at all, and doesn't show the scrolling cursor (even though it is switched on in Synaptics settings). I also tried the generic Synaptics drivers for Windows 10, but they also do not scroll at all, and behave like the Windows Update ones. Hi,Thanks for your reply.While I understand that HP is probably paid by various companies to include their software, I do not like having included programs and such on my computer, so I have always clean installed my machines with the key on the bottom, or such.This laptop came with Windows 7 Professional on it, and I clean installed the machine as soon as I got it. I installed all the drivers from HP's website and everything worked great.

In 2014, I clean installed Windows 8.1 Professional and the same drivers worked perfectly again. My clean install of Windows 10 Professional also worked with every driver, no errors about unsupported OS, and even the Synaptics driver itself claims to be working perfectly.Another family member has the exact same laptop, and did a upgrade from OEM Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10 Professional through Microsoft's free offer back in 2015.

They had the same problem with the Synaptics driver, but they didn't care because they always use a USB mouse. Therefore, I conclude that the clean install isn't the cause of this problem, rather, an incomatibilty between the Synaptics V6.5 touchpad and Windows 10.I blocked the Driver Update from Windows Update, so now I can at least scroll in 'classic' applications. Therefore, I know that the driver from HP is working correctly, just that Windows 10's Modern UI doesn't seem to listen to it (Windows 8.1's Modern UI did!).Kind Regards,JoshPS: I like your sense of humor! Hi,I just tried those drivers, and they seem to have the same issue as the Windows Update drivers. Since the HP Windows 7 drivers seem to at least allow scrolling and such in classic applications (which is what I use the most, Chrome, Office 2013, and such ), I'll just keep using them.I understand why that is for a laptop that is 5 years old at the release of Windows 10, but it does strike me as rather odd that the driver works, but Windows 10 doesn't seem to listen. I may take this up further, perhaps there is some sort of disconnect with how Modern UI Apps talk with the drivers (and perhaps a simple program could translate such calls, by emulating a USB input device?). Regardless, I'll update this thread if I get anywhere with that.A temporary workaround I found is too disable the 'Automatically hide scroll bars in Windows' option in the Display Accessibility options, as then I can at least easily click and drag them.Thanks for your time, and best regards,Josh.
